NCE100 Company of the Year awards 2016
Ramboll is ranked Ramboll at 15 out of the top 100 of ‘the top firms in civil engineering based on the cultures, competencies and skillsets that matter most’. We were also shortlisted for four NCE100 awards and our finalists faced a rigorous face-to-face interview with a panel of judges made up of clients, contractors and consultants to showcase excellence.

Civic Trust South West Award
Project: Springfield Community Campus, Wiltshire, UK
Ramboll’s design of the M&E services at Springfield Campus maximised energy savings at every juncture, there were a number of complex issues due to the array of uses across the campus and the integration of legacy and new systems. Ramboll overcame these issues using a range of solutions that maximised energy savings.

Civic Trust North West Award
Project:
National-Graphene-Institute, Manchester, UK
Drawing on Ramboll’s extensive experience in research and science laboratories, we were able to create clean rooms and laboratories that will accommodate sophisticated research equipment, which have both extremely low-vibration and non-magnetic requirements, made extraordinarily challenging with the £14.5m of services equipment.

National Civic Trust Commendation
Project: National-Graphene-Institute, Manchester, UK
This award is given to projects that make a significant contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment. Commendation level schemes demonstrate a good standard of architecture or design, sustainability, universal design and provide a positive social, cultural, environmental or economic benefit to the local community.

Post Tensioning Association - Special Recognition Award
Project: Hammersmith-Flyover-Phase-2, London, UK
This award celebrates the innovative engineering solutions applied to such a significant structure. It is beleived to be the first time all the old post-tensioning system has been replaced without first removing it.

RIBA London Award
Project: Gagosian Gallery, London, UK
20 Grosvenor Hill has transformed what was a tired 1960s office block into a contemporary building suitable for a world-renowned art gallery. The podium, which is situated between a multi-storey basement car park and residential tower, connects seamlessly with the public realm.

RIBA London Award
Project: Plimsoll Building, London, UK
London’s King’s Cross is undergoing major redevelopment. The overall masterplan includes Plimsoll Building, a mixed-use complex of schools, residential apartments, community centre and outside space. Ramboll met the challenges of a busy brownfield site, with underground tunnels, and designed the structure to comply with vibration regulations.

RIBA London Award
Project: Wilton's Music Hall, London, UK
Wilton’s music hall is the oldest serving music hall in Europe and is Grade II listed.  It is a unique building comprising a mid-nineteenth century grand music hall attached to an eighteenth century terrace of three houses and a pub.  In 1997 it was re-opened as a theatre and concert hall, and in 2012 a major refurbishment took place to preserve the fabric for future generations.

RICS North West Conservation Award Win
Project: Whitworth, Manchester, UK
Ramboll provided structural engineering services on the impressive £15m reinvention of The Whitworth Museum. The redeveloped and completed museum has redefined the way that it engages with its public, connecting the building and surrounding park to create a space with a strong sense of openness and invitation.

Chester Civic Trust New Year Honours Conservation Award
Project: Eastgate Chester City Walls, Chester, UK
Chester’s most photographed heritage asset, Eastgate and its world-renowned clock; the second most photographed clock in the UK after Big Ben has been unveiled following several months of extensive repairs led by Ramboll’s conservation engineers.

Chester Civic Trust Public Open Spaces Award - Highly Commended
Project: King Charles Tower Garden, Chester, UK
King Charles Tower Garden is the first project brought forward by Chester’s Waterways Strategy with the key principle of reconnecting Chester’s waterways to the city. Ramboll supported the landscape architect in the design of retaining structures on a sloped site and carried out a ground investigation and advised on slope stability.

NEC3 Contracts Large Project of the Year Award - Highly Commended
Project: Hammersmith-Flyover-Phase-2, London, UK
This award acknowledges the high levels of collaboration within the delivery team working on the Phase 2 strengthening of the Hammersmith Flyover, which was a phenomenally complex programme.
