Matt Davies specialises in environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA). His advice on strategy, knowledge of case law and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary EIAs enables clients to minimise planning delays, limit uncertainty and retain flexibility. He has worked in a broad range of sectors including infrastructure, mining, power and renewables, oil and gas, and transport. Drawing on more than 27 years of experience, Matt works with clients to develop ESIA and related impact assessment projects to international standards. He has led commissions throughout the UK and overseas, in many cases to accompany consent applications for major, and sometimes contentious, projects. He leads discussions on scope and approach, conducts stakeholder and community consultation, and advises on development design to mitigate environmental and social impact. He is experienced in a range of UK EIA and consenting frameworks including land use planning, electricity generation and transmission, pipelines, ports and harbours. He has acted as an expert witness on numerous EIA matters, has advised government on EIA policy and legal compliance, and has published research on post-project EIA. Matt holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology.
