Claire ThomasMA CEng MIStructEAssociate Director Curriculum VitaeClaire Thomas joined the practice in 1997. She was made Associate in 2000 and Associate Director in 2001. Claire is a structural engineer, based at our Bristol office. She has worked with clients in the commercial, residential, leisure and education sectors across the south west and Wales. An interest in improving the built environment drives Claire's involvement in projects on all scales, although she appreciates the impact that large projects in particular have on both landscape and lifestyle. Most recently, she has been involved with St David's 2, a major mixed use development in Cardiff city centre. On a smaller scale, Claire has worked on projects that focus on sustainable design and living, and has experience of working with unusual materials. Her own approach to sustainability is holistic and contemporary: she believes that sustainable design should be integral and compatible with modern requirements and aesthetics. An experienced project manager, Claire has a good understanding of the needs of architects, contractors and various design specialists and enjoys facilitating liaison between the professions.
