Curriculum Vitae

Philippa Owen joined the company as Associate in 2009.

Philippa is Ramboll UK's lead Associate in sustainability services. She works with the sustainability team on the development of energy and sustainability strategies for masterplans, sites and buildings, as well as benchmarking and the preparation of building simulations. She is responsible for projects resulting from direct appointment by planners, developers, architects or contractors, and projects in conjunction with other Ramboll service teams.

Her wide experience in the industry — which includes environmental and sustainability consultancy, and team management in the private and public sectors — makes her ideally placed to manage the sustainability assessment process. Philippa has both a firm grasp of the need for practical solutions that meet end-user aims and the ability to maintain an overview of the complex co-ordination required in this field.

From early-stage discussions on passive design measures and building orientation, to options reports, post-design advice and assessments on completion, she ensures that the sustainability aspects of a project are focused and coherent. She has a broad knowledge of low carbon and renewable energy technologies and applies these within detailed energy strategies to achieve cost effective, energy-efficient results.

Philippa is a registered BREEAM assessor for office, bespoke, international, multi-residential and in-use assessments. She is also a qualified Code for Sustainable Homes & Ecohomes assessor and is experienced in the LEED, Estidama, Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment / Sustainabilty Appraisal processes. She guides project teams using these tools in the creation of inherently sustainable buildings.

Trained in biology, ecology and genetic engineering, Philippa has a passion for the environment. She holds a masters degree in Environmental Impact Assessment & Management, and her interest in thinking at a global level has led her to a focus on corporate responsibility and wider community contexts. At Ramboll she sits on our sustainability task group. She is a member of the sustainable development network in London, SPONGE, and the Central London Energy Management Group.
