Simon SmithBEng CEng MIStructEUK Director of Buildings & Design Curriculum VitaeSimon Smith joined the practice in 1994 and was appointed Director in 2001. Simon is a UK Director of Buildings & Design. He is responsible for fostering one of the most important features of our business: a culture that inspires and promotes consistently excellent design. He identifies successes, facilitates the dissemination of design knowledge, targets topics for advancement or investigation within our organisation and distinguishes areas for further research. In addition to this role, Simon continues to lead projects himself. He contributes particular skills to the concept stage of design. His ideas for structures are consistently imaginative as well as practicable and economic to construct and maintain. Throughout the life of a project, he works closely with architect and building services colleagues to ensure environmentally efficient buildings and construction processes. Simon teaches at the Cambridge University Faculty of Architecture and has close links with the Engineering Department. He has contributed to research into timber/concrete composite structures and continues to explore further structural uses of timber. CONTACT Simon Smith |
