Stephen Melville

Stephen Melville joined the practice in 1996. He was appointed Associate in 1999, Associate Director in 2003
and Director in 2006.

Stephen is responsible for the international work undertaken by Ramboll UK. He is a structural engineer and has been based at our Bristol office since November 2005. He is expert in the redevelopment of complex structures, including listed buildings, and his input at concept design stage has contributed significantly to innovative new build projects.

Stephen's keen interest in architectural aspiration inspires him in applying his considerable analytical skills
and knowledge of structural materials to overcome project constraints.

His designs in concrete for the new Toyota UK headquarters and for offices at 40 Grosvenor Place have both won awards.
He also works extensively in steel, masonry, timber and glass.

Stephen has been guest tutor at the Universities of Texas, Cardiff and Bristol and a member of the Drafting Committee of the National Concrete Frame Specification. Internally, he chairs task groups on computer aided engineering.
