Ramboll continues to sponsor and support the IStructE Young Researchers Conference. Celebrating it's 20th year, the conference provides a fantastic opportunity for PhD students or first year post-doctoral researchers to present their research to industry representatives, academics and fellow researchers. 23 researchers have been selected to give either an oral or poster presentation at the conference which will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including Ramboll's Carl Brookes. Innovation in the development and specification of materials for the construction industry is at the heart of the agenda for 2018's Materials for Architecture conference. Two days of talks from industry knowledge leaders will examine the ever-changing world of materials for architecture, construction and design with Mark Pniewski, Director, discussing 'Innovations in concrete' on Thursday 26 April. Mark is responsible for Ramboll’s esteemed façades team and has a natural passion for creativity, appreciation for aesthetics and building performance.

This event showcases the historic use of geosynthetics in rail applications, and the opportunity for using geosynthetics in value engineering, especially in upcoming works contracts for HS2. Jim Flack will be explaining how Ramboll embraced innovation in engineering in the design solutions for railway projects such as Bermondsey Dive Under and Reading.

Ramboll are delighted to have provided technical assistance and samples to the ‘Timber Rising: Vertical visions for the cities of tomorrow’ - the first comprehensive exhibition to look at the new revolution in vertical timber building, examining the historical context, as well as addressing issues of safety and urban health. The exhibition explores the sustainability and wellness aspects of using engineered timber, in particular Cross Laminated Timber, considering the modern day use of an enhanced ancient material and the impact that a closer connection to natural materials can have in high-density environments.

Gavin White will be discussing the benefits of offsite construction combined with digital design at the Solid Wood Solutions conference.
