The inclusion of the Queensferry Crossing on the shortlist results from it winning Ground Engineering Project of the Year in 2015. The judges appreciated the many complex techniques and skills required to deliver the bridge across such a challenging stretch of water. While the stunning aesthetics of the bridge have been admired across the board, it’s fantastic news that the complex ground engineering underpinning the crossing is also recognised. More information on the foundations of the crossing can be found here. Stephen West, UK Director Ground Engineering, commented: “I’m delighted the ground engineering work on this project is recognised. The design of the foundations was a real collaborative triumph for Ramboll, with teams from Denmark, Bridges, Marine, and E&H all contributing to the project. It shows what can be achieved when we share a common goal, and winning Project of the Decade would be a real feather in the cap for the whole of Ramboll.”
Ramboll and Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors' contribution to the crossing is acknowledged by Ground Engineering alongside the client Transport Scotland and the Jacobs Arup JV.
