Gas utilisation study, Yemen

Yemen ¤

Ramboll Oil & Gas became part of a comprehensive international project to replace oil, the main source of energy in Yemen, with natural gas.

Reserves estimated larger than annual EU gas consumption

The gas reserves in Yemen are estimated at about 16 trillion cubic feet - more than the annual consumption of natural gas in all EU countries.

Ramboll conducted a study estimating the current and future availability of natural gas until 2025. The study concerned pipeline feasibility from the city of Safer to Aden via Mabar and an estimation of gas utilisation for fertiliser, desalination, and power for private and commercial purposes.

Reaching remote parts of the country

Since there is no infrastructure, the project also comprises development of infrastructure for transportation and distribution of gas in order to reach users in even the remotest parts of the country.
